Thanksgiving might be a US holiday but who says we can’t celebrate worldwide? And with everything that’s been going on recently, we think it’s important to remember everything that we’re thankful for this year. Why not celebrate Friendsgiving and plan an extra special night in with your mates. From drinks, food, décor inspo and so much more, your Friendsgiving starts here.

First, set the table.

As much as we appreciate traditional themes, we much prefer doing things the ‘fun’ way, rather than the ‘normal’ way— adding a little more personality (and a little less pressure) into our celebrations. When setting up your Friendsgiving table, look for decorations that scream “party”. We’re thinking party poppers, confetti and don’t forget, even a beautifully crafted cocktail can be part of the décor (more on that later).

Next, pour the drinks.

Start with the obvious - wine! For a juicy, sweet red, try our Jammy Red set to your fave playlist. Or for a bolder taste, serve our Cabernet Sauvignon while you play your favourite party games. For a walk on the brighter side, open a bottle of Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc—a perfect wine to pair with a delicious roast turkey. Or just go all in with Barefoot Bubbly Pink Moscato (this is a celebration, after all) and pair it with virtually anything!

It’s also fun to have one or two cocktails on the menu to share with your guests! If the weather is feeling especially autumnal, whip up a batch of Autumn Sangria made with our Jammy Red. Or opt for a Maple Rummy with Barefoot Chardonnay. It’s the drink equivalent of cozying up on the couch in front of the fireplace. For something really wintery, what better than mulled wine? Delish!

All about the Thanksgiving food!

A dinner party wouldn’t be a dinner party without food! Tradition for Thanksgiving would be a juicy roast turkey with all the trimmings. Think marshmallow roast sweet potatoes (yes, it’s a thing!), brussel spouts and cranberry sauce finished off with pumpkin pie and a dollop of cream. However, if you’d rather save your turkey dinner for Christmas Day, any roast meat will work. Roast pork with crackling? YUM! Beef and Yorkshire puddings for a British Thanksgiving twist? We’re here for it!

If roast isn’t your thing, why not serve up any of your fave food or splash out and get a takeaway! Pasta dishes can be quick and simple to put together when you don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen and get FOMO from the convo happening in the other room. Check our blog on tips for which wine to pair with which pasta dishes.

Alternatively, you can’t go wrong with pizza. Whether you order it in or make it yourself (hello pizza party!), it’s an all-round winner. Here you can overload on meaty toppings, go veggie or even create dessert pizzas! The possibilities are endless.

What should we talk about?

While your squad no doubt already has plenty to catch up on, it can be fun to shake up the chat with some unique ‘prompts’! Why not put together questions and scatter them around your table for fun conversations that’ll last the entire evening! From supernatural insights like, “Do you believe in ghosts,” to personal ones such as, “What’s the nicest compliment you’ve ever received,” there will be no strangers left at the table! If you’re willing to add a bit of risk, why not play truth or dare!

For other entertainment options, why not break out the karaoke machine and belt out your favourite banger. Need tips on how to host a karaoke party? Don’t worry, we’ve got you. Also, don’t forget the traditional party games! Charades and who am I? are always winners.

We can’t wait to see how you bring your Friendsgiving to life! Cheers!
