Aloo Tikkis -Spicy Potato Cakes

Ingredients

  • 450g Boiled Potatoes
  • 30g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Tbsp Corn Flour
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 Green chilli finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/3 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Clove Powder
  • 20g Finely chopped fresh Coriander
  • 30 g Red Onion Finely Chopped
  • 6 Tbsps white Bread crumbs
  • 100ml Sunflower Oil for shallow frying
  • Green coriander and Mint Chutney

Directions

  1. Mash the potatoes ensuring there are no lumps.
  2. Add the finely chopped onions, chopped coriander, ginger paste, chopped chillies, salt, turmeric, chilli powder, cinnamon powder, clove powder and lemon juice . Also add 2 Tbsps breadcrumbs and 1 Tbsp corn flour.
  3. Mix all the ingredients together.
  4. Pinch 12 Golf sized balls of the mixture and shape them into rounds patties, Flatten them and coat them in the remaining bread crumbs.
  5. Place the prepared patties in the fridge for 30 minutes
  6. In a shallow pan heat the sunflower oil to 180 degrees C. 350 Degrees F
  7. Fry the round patties in the oil until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Drain them on kitchen paper and then repeat the process for the remaining patties.
  9. Transfer them to a serving dish and serve hot with the green coriander, mint chutney and a chilled glass of Barefoot Moscato.
