Upcycled Party Decorations

By using recycled party decorations you're reducing waste, conserving resources, and saving energy. Plus, it's a fantastic way to get creative and make unique Halloween decorations that no one else will have.

So, without further ado, let's dive into three spooktacular ideas for Halloween party decorations using recycled materials.

Spooky Wine Bottle Lanterns

Things really get spooky when the lights are off, and what better way to add to the atmosphere than with some lanterns made from wine bottles! For this you’ll need empty wine bottles (after you’ve shared that delish bottle of Barefoot!), acrylic paint, paint brushes, coloured paper, glue, scissors and fairy lights.

All you need to do is paint the wine bottles to transform them into those well-known Halloween characters. Choose your favourite ones to recreate. Love a jack-o’-lantern? Grab the orange paint. Feeling witchy? Black and white paint work really well to create a moon on dark sky - just make sure you paint the white moon first and then the black around it. You may need to add a few coats of paint depending on the colour you use.

Once you’re done and the paint is dry, paint on any facial features. You can also cut shapes from paper and stick them on to add a 3D effect. We added 3D bats to our moon bottle! Thread fairy lights into the neck of the bottle making sure they reach the bottom. Set up your wine bottle lanterns on your dinner table for some great centre pieces or dot them around the room at your party for added atmosphere.

Wine Glass Candle Holders

We’ve all done it- broken one wine glass and now the set is incomplete! Why not use the remaining wine glasses and turn them into candle holders! All you’ll need is the wine glasses, acrylic paint, marker pens and tea lights or pillar candles.

Choose the design you want to make whether that’s a cheeky pumpkin, funny Frankenstein or a ghoulish ghost. Turn the glass upside down so the stem is at the top and paint your design onto the glass. You may need to do a few coats.

Once the paint is dry, add on any facial features using a marker pen. Place a candle on top of the stem and voila! Your incomplete set of wine glasses have been transformed into fun Halloween decorations. Now sit back, grab a glass of our favourite Barefoot wine and admire your creations.

Creepy Cardboard Tombstones

What's a haunted house without a spine-chilling graveyard? For this project, you'll need some cardboard boxes, scissors, paint, and a marker. You can use old delivery boxes, cereal boxes or a used Barefoot On Tap box; the point is to recycle!

Start by cutting the cardboard into tombstone shapes – get creative with different sizes and designs. Next, paint the cardboard tombstones with grey or black paint, and let them dry. Once they're dry, use a marker to write eerie messages, names, or even a cheeky "RIP" on each tombstone.

Finally, set up your ghoulish graveyard in your garden or living room, and watch as your guests tremble with fear (or laughter)!
